Meridan is offering 2.2% GIC for an 18 month term by invitation only. This applies to new money only and selected clients received a letter making the offer which expires Dec 31. In Ontario this is about the best for this term might be worth the call to see if you can get the deal.

Disappointing that they only offered that special rate in Toronto. I guess other Ontario money isn't good enough for the higher rate!

I believe this offer was open to the entire province but only to those clients that were selected. I have found that this forum is useful as it informs people of these offers. The selecting of clients and not using wide spread advertising for these deals is happening more often. I have used information from this forum to get a better rate from other institutions that I would have not otherwise been aware of.

When I contacted them, they told me that it was only available in Toronto because they have opened 10 new branches in Toronto.

I received my offer in the mail from the branch in London Ontario. There was no restrictions in the offer letter other than the expire on Dec 31st.
