Not that I would buy a 5 year GIC at either 1.8 or 1.6, but that is a drop of more than 10% in the yield, which I suppose is a sign of the times.

Nothing wrong with buying a 5 year GIC at 1.6% if you are using a 5 year ladder investment strategy. My current yield is 2.8%. My next planned 5 year purchase is next year.

Have a Great Day
