More problems with ICICI

So I've had all kinds of trouble with ICICI so far, and today I ran into yet another snag.

Some history first: I signed up using a referral from a friend. I tried to use the web site to sign up for an account, but for some reason, it kept failing (I've documented that issue in another thread). I ended up signing up by phone and giving them my referral code. Then I had issues with sending in my 2 pieces of ID. The Vancouver branch was not a lot of help and I ended up going to the branch multiple times before the account was finally opened. The account was finally opened August 14 after about 6 weeks.

Based on feedback on this forum, I expected to receive the referral bonus in about a week. When it didn't show up in my account, I called and was told it could take up to a month to be deposited in my account. After a month, I called again and was told to wait. On Sept22, I called once again and received an SR number and was told the bonus would be deposited in 24 to 48 hours.

Today (Sept 29), I called again to find out why the deposit still hadn't been made and was told I would not be getting the bonus. I asked for an explanation and was told that I did not complete the application using the referral code so I wouldn't get the bonus. I explained my problems with the web site when signing up, and asked why I was assured everything would be OK when I gave my referral code over the phone. The CS rep was unable to answer this and instead asked me if it was the first account that I've opened with them. (It is). At that point, I decided that the CS rep wasn't going to be able to help me, and I used the "complaints" link on the web site to send a message and ask for a satisfactory resolution. We'll see what happens!

Not liking ICICI at all so far!

Don't call their customer service, they do not understand english. You have to speak Indian to hope for a little bit of comprehension 😉

To update on what happened, I used the "complaints" link to send an email to "The Officer, Customer Service". I never got a reply from them. After a week, I escalated it to "The Manager, Customer Service". Although I had to ask for updates a few times after they said that they would look into it, I eventually got my referral bonus.

Finally, you worked hard to get your "free" $20 bonus.
