Log into my Hub account, and start a chat to ask them not to auto-renew an upcoming GIC that is maturing. They ask me to call so they can authenticate me.

1. There should an online interface to auto-renew or not.
2. I just authenticated myself to your online system, and initiated chat.

= grr.

.
Yes, Hubert Financial is still a bit of a 'HickBilly' operation.

Will they ever catch up with the times ... who knows ❓

Don't blame their CSR's. It's Sunova's fault.

I see no problem with that. When I buy a GIC I use the feature "At maturity, principle and interest will be paid into your account." Gives you some time to decide what to do with funds. Do you wish to remove some funds? Do you wish to add some funds? Do you wish to change the term?

Have a Great Day

I agree with you archangel. This is a new thing (within the last year) that Hubert requires. One used to be able to secure chat with a representative to direct maturing GICs.

Unfortunately, topgun, this has not been an option when opening a GIC at Hubert. I was told by a rep that they are planning to modify their website so that maturity option choices will be available when opening a GIC. That was about 6 months ago...

Never had them ask to call to verify. Whether on the phone or chat, I give them my secret phrase and carry on.

Don't hold your breath ... they've been saying that for over a year now.

It's part of Hubert's (Sunova's) 'Smoke & Mirrors'.

Give me a break!!!! Hubert is one of the best. If you deal with them and see how their system works you would realize that they had to have some human contact over the phone. But I will admit the verification process for phone contact is very very weak. BUT no doubt some one hacked an account or made requests on their own or on the behalf of an account holder. If things were left "as is" it would have been very easy to control your spouses account over chat or even a POA or a trusted person. It was good the way it was if only an alternative trusted person was helping out. But no doubt some non trustworthy person did something that they should not have.
