Access CU held a special meeting last week to consider a restructuring plan for its Board of Directors. My understanding is that the plan would remove districts for virtual members like those holding accounts in Hubert.

I had planned to join the meeting online, but work responsibilities kept me on duty late last week.

I can't find any report of the outcome on either the Access or Hubert web sites, and was wondering if anyone had attended and/or knows what happened?

.
In 'Theory', the results of that meeting
will eventually be posted here

At Access CU, sometimes news travels
slowly. sf-wink

By a 93% vote, director districts will be eliminated.

That outcome is approaching DPRK election results in the level of unanimity. Nonetheless, the people have spoken!

Have they? Noteworthy is, like many credit unions, Access did not publish the total ballots cast, or the total number of valid ballots. That's crucial information, but, as is common with credit union governance, relatively few members participate. Since Crosstown Civic Credit Union members make up, overwhelming, the largest pre-Access membership base, as they're based in Winnipeg, it's fair to say they made up the most number of members who voted, and, as urban dwellers, stand to benefit the most from elimination of director districts.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased to see director directors eliminated, as it means long-standing de facto "director for lifers" like Sunova's Lesli Malegus will actually have to mount a solid campaign and "ground game" outside of their hometown, in order to win re-election. sf-cool

Note: I did not get a chance to vote this time, like many members, although I simply forgot. Most just aren't interested

Cheers,
Doug
