It appears that W1 wants to be a rate leader for most GIC terms. In short time, W1 responded to Haventree Bank increased GIC rates and is the rate leader in 3, 4 and 5 year terms now. They are also tied for top spot for the 1 year term and tied for second for the 2 year term based on the GIC chart. I have several GIC's with them maturing next year. The only downside in buying GIC's from W1 is that you have to call them at maturity to request a cash out, otherwise they will renew your GIC. I preferred Tangerine Bank's automatic cash out when their GIC's mature with no need to call them to request this.

.
Correction ⬆️, Bryguy . . .

Once your GIC is set up at W1BoC, you can go onto that GIC's summary page, and change the maturity instructions.

Cheers,

Thanks for the note Dean.

I just logged in and went to the "Change GIC Maturity Option" to have the proceeds go into my W1 HISA. After I hit the submit button it gave me the following message "Unsuccessful transaction If you require further assistance, please call 1.866.392.1088 or email our technical support at Help@wealthonebank.ca.". Maybe I can only request this change closer to the maturity date. Will have to investigate further.
