I'm not sure if anyone noticed this rate by HSBC.

@ ITRADe's GIC Section -Annual
HSBC BANK CANADA 4 year GIC 5.6500 rated @ AH min. $5000

I don't know when this offer popped up . This is a top offer , especially available in a brokerage. Hopefully offer is still available after 9am EST

I've posted this elsewhere, but the HSBC 5.65% 4-year that was showing on yesterday's TDDI ratesheet is now 4.65% this morning. This was either a stunt, or, more likely there is an HSBC (ex?) employee now being sent for remedial lessons in typing and proofreading.

Not there now, after 9 am, on Scotia iTRADE.

Best four-year annual-pay GIC there is 4.96% from HomeEquity Bank.

As with TD Direct Investing, HSBC Bank Canada via Scotia iTRADE is now 4.65%.

TDDI has actually used the advantage of owning the platform to bump their own multiple TD issuers up fractionally to top of the lists for 3/4/5 years - their 4-year rate is 5.0%. HSBC's 4.65% is at the bottom of the list, except for the obscure RFA Bank mortgage folks at 3%.

This typo/promo was not there on the weekend when I checked so it lasted only one day yesterday. I saw this good rate and moved my money to TD yesterday, and only found out that it is no longer available today.

It could have been a flash sale. HSBC needed to raise a certain amount of money quickly to fund some four-year loans. It offered a market leading rate on four-year GIC's and yanked the rate at the end of the day once the target amount of money was raised.

I saw that, jumped on it. It looked like it wouldn’t last long. Thank you.
