I have not had a broker confirm this (and wouldn't ask), but from what I've heard on a few sites it's something around 1/4% of the total investment amount x the length of the term.
However, I believe that some brokers, in some cases, adjust their commission with a client if that is what it takes to get a deal done. As the old saying goes: 25% of a watermelon is better than 100% of a grape.

I think that is approximately correct but it should not matter what the broker commission is. All we care about is the yield to us.
