I checked Hubert's GIC rates today, and noticed a drop. For example, the 5 year 3.55% rate drops to 3.25%. But I noticed it read rates effective Feb. 8. Today being Feb. 7th, I decided to try opening a new GIC and see what the rate was. Sure enough, still 3.55%. So thanks Hubert for the advance notice, very kind of you.

I doubt they will drop the HISA rate any lower.. GICs I think they were still #1.. After tomorrow I guess that could be changing..

My point yesterday though is that they gave a day's notice before dropping the GIC rates, whether they intended to or not. I haven't seen any other financial institution ever do so, GIC rates always just change with no notice, at least in my experience. I took advantage of it.

Yes, Agreed.. I think it saves them from having to update their site directly on the 8th (today).. Usually emails are sent regarding rate changes.. I didn't check my inbox this morning..
