This is just a reminder that the banks and CUs will be closed on Thursday Sept 30, and at least some of the call centres. I am not actually sure about all the CUs, but you should check if it's relevant to you.
ATMs and online banking will work.

We were at RBC today, where there was a reminder about this.

I would anticipate that transfers might take an extra day, so plan accordingly.

Here is a summary of what may be open and closed in BC: https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/is-sept-30-a-stat-holiday-in-bc-for-truth-and-reconciliation-day .

"Most public schools, post-secondary institutions, research universities, Crown corporations and B.C. government offices will be closed. ... It is a national holiday, so federal offices and federally regulated businesses, such as the post office, will be closed."

I've also heard that some municipal government offices will be closed.

Messes me up with a Tang GIC due tomorrow, as they take too long on transfers out.

The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to
annoy people who are not in them.

Same here, also with Tang.

I am scheduled to transfer some funds from Tang on Sept 29 to WealthOne. I spoke with the CSR at W1 and told him to expect them to arrive on Oct 1, but that they may not appear in the account for me until it is refreshed/updated at the end of business. He said that the funds may appear and he may have access to them on his system and that he would check during the day for their arrival in order to try and make a GIC purchase for me and date it Oct 1.

Setup a daily transfer out from Sept 29 to Oct 1 for full GIC balance at Tang. Your funds may arrive Sep 29. If no funds are there on Oct 1 at Tang no problem.

Have a Great Day

The problem is not the release from Tang. That is known. The money is avail on Sept 29 and will immediately be transferred. The problem lies with when W1 will recognize the transaction. Hopefully, the W1 CSR can intervene behind the scenes and recognize that the funds have arrived at W1 on Oct 1 (even if that is not publicly reflected in the depositor's online system.)
