Just to add to this: Don't make the mistake I made signing up for a "free" credit score from Transunion. That button on their main page will sign you up for the $20/month "credit protection" program. I should know better! The irony of being scammed by a credit reporting agency.

Anyway, score on TU was 867 and a phone call to cancel and refund their service.

A friend of mine in mid 70s has no mortgage, no car payments ever, and no financing of any kind..
Cancelled all his cc and only does cash/debit.
Credit score of 600 because he forgot to pay his last cc payment before going on a long cruise...

From Feb 1,2021 Equifax Canada includes credit score with each free credit report.

First time ever I learned, that my Equifax credit score = 856.

Don't know about TransUnion, I think it also will be reasonable good, no need to check TransUnion.

TransUnion = 820 Do not know how to get Equifax.
We get no interest to leave the money in a savings account. Last year I started paying my credit card as I used it. My statement balance is small. Credit score still not 900.

TransUnion = 859, down from 862 in August of last year.

Lost three points for closing few idle banking accounts and two credit cards.

I can live with that.

It looks like you need to pay a monthly fee. Will not pay a monthly fee. I am happy with TU.

TransUnion and Equifax use different scoring models and methodologies, so the scores will always be different, sometimes/often appearing to be quite substantially different. In practical terms, a TransUnion score of 775 is basically functionally equivalent to an Equifax score of 825 or greater. More simply, an Equifax or TransUnion score above 700 is considered excellent, and you will not notice much, if any, different treatment from financial institutions in terms of credit approvals or approved interest rates. 🙂

Cheers,
Doug

I churn CC and the score just go down and then go back up after a few months.
As long as you dont plan to borrow or take out a mortgage, credit score not really that relevant.
