I contacted TD to try to get this offer... Answer: "No Soup For You".

The rep said "It is offered automatically to targeted people... but we do not know the logic..."

Hum... interesting... makes me think of something like "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

Maybe TD started using the same computer algorithm as Tangerine.

Nothing here in today's mail. Perhaps they haven't noticed how much money I have taken out of their bank over the last few years? They can see by my transfers where it has gone.

Were you a TD customer, Brimleychen?

My wife regularly has gotten these offers from TD for years now, I don't, and we have a joint TD chequing account with me as primary, her as secondary. We have no other material business or investments with them.

I think I know the algorithm.

Tongue in cheek.

Awhile back TD was in the press in regards to offering, pressuring, and sneaking in fees to their clients. They have goals to reach and are pressured to meet them. I have confirmed this with some one I know that works at TD.

The TD offer list is probably made from those clients that had been taken advantage of. Nice gesture for sure.

My wife received the promo mailing but I didn't. Went to my local TDCT today and, attempting a long shot, asked If I could be eligible since my wife was. To my surprise, the bank employee advised my that I was targeted and eligible. I opened the HISA and got her to print something showing that I was eligible for the 2.20%. She even advised me to close the account at the end of the Promo (July 31) to avoid transfer fees.
I don't know if the Bank just didn't send me the promo offer or if the postman screwed up.
But the moral of the story is....... It doesn't hurt to ask!
