I could add a property to the financial institution profiles (https://www.highinterestsavings.ca/profile/) and start filling it in with whatever info the forum community has.

None of the major banks like RBC and CIBC, I know offer linking to other external financial institutions. I found EQ (not a major FI) allows many external accounts you can push or pull to/from. Many like Tangerine (allows only 3 external accounts) will add the funds to your account as soon as you pull it, not when you receive the funds. However, there are holds.

Some FIs like RBC agents who may have call centres oversees and in Canada may not understand the lingo.

Unfortunately, none of the FIs I know send you an alert when they initiated the transfer which can be frustrating if the FI (like Manulife) doesn't automatically reflect the transfer in your account.

Simplii makes it difficult to link an external account. I see no option in the mobile app to manage them. Additionally, both Simplii and Tangerine need you to either submit a PAD form to link an external account or you must manually enter the details. Both EQ and Manulife connects you directly to your FI to link the account.

In respect to Manulife, they don't use the Flinks method for linking accounts. What they require is an uploaded image, PDF of a cheque/deposit slip and then they manually add the external account if the are satisfied with the uploaded banking details. Alerts for when a transfer occurs can be setup by changing the account's minimum balance notification amount, currently defaulted at most banks at $100.
