Any experience with linking Canadian Western Bank (CWB, not Motive) accounts (CAD and USD) from other banks like EQ, Hubert or Tangerine?

Thanks,
FM

Linking Tangerine with CWB (Motive Financial) was straight-forward, initiated from Tangerine's end.
Within 2 days, Tangerine makes 2 small deposits into your CWB account, which you have to confirm to complete the linkage.

Starting with CWB, you have to complete a form, which you can email to them.
The process seems much slower initiating the linkage with CWB.

Thanks, Pythagoras.
Today, I talked to 3 Reps at CWB nobody was able to answer my question. They said no linking from CWB side.
Your answer means, you can send money from the CWB site as well?
Does this work for USD accounts as well?

Pythagoras,

sorry, to clarify. I don't talk about Motive the online subsidiary of CWB, I talk about Canadian Western Bank (CWB) the parent company with branches in BC and AB

Thanks FM

You should be able to do this from the external accounts, but I have no experience with this particular Bank.

It's normal for bricks-and-mortar banks to tell you it can't be done. They all act dumb and pretend they have never heard of linking of any sort. As long as you have a Transit number, branch number, and account number for CWB, you should be able to do it from the other end. Some will require that the link be to a chequing account.

Apologies are mine.
I misunderstood, I thought you were asking about Motive Financial.
I have no experience with CWB.

One needs to ask the question using terminology the reps understand. Linking is not a term the banking reps will understand.

If one would like obtain the information needed to establish links at EQ Bank, Hubert, or Tangerine, one can ask the CWB reps for the direct deposit or pre-authorized debit information of the CWB accounts.

Linking accounts from the CWB side is possible. The service is called Customer Automated Funds Transfers (CAFT). The traditional bricks-and-mortar banks usually offer that to business banking customers and not personal banking customers.

One can ask if customer automated funds transfers can be done using a personal account instead of a business account. The rep will understand or can talk with one of the business banking reps who will understand the question.

It's a pity the "plain language" movement hasn't arrived at the banks yet.

Most of the smaller and online banks understand the word "link". Why can't the rest of them? A person might think they don't want to.sf-surprised

Good advice from Norman1 though.

Except for the group that runs Motive in Edmonton, I don't think CWB CSR's even know they have an online subsidiary called Motive. Went into near by CWB, flashed my Motive debit card, and got the "deer in the headlights" reaction. Was refused service and all I wanted was change for a 50.
Much easier for you to open an account with Motive if you want to link other FI's.
