If recall from my Alberta days......you might have to ask an Albertan as I don't think they accept out of province customers..

Do you REALLY think it is worth?
- You have to keep $2500 to avoid $9.95/month fee
- You have to add 1 direct deposit OR 2 preauthorized payments and keep them coming/going for at least 3 months
- 0% interest
They have fantastic 1 year cashable GIC paying whooping 0.65%
So they will block my 2500 to avoid fee, pay no interest, have to go through hassle to switch 2 bills and I will get $350?
Not worth.

I looked into ATB once a while back, and they did not accept out-of-province, although, if you moved out of AB you could keep the account.

It really doesn't worth all the hassle specially the direct deposit part and knowing "Customers are responsible for any action required for tax purposes." So, I am not sure if that is considered a taxable bonus or not.
