I don't recall receiving a survey, but I did just receive an email that my 90day 2.45% GIC has matured. I do like the fact that they notify you this way about the maturity--and they sent a reminder email a week or two ago about it. Now the funds are in their 2% savings account. When they first opened, I put a lot of money into EQ but then the rates fell. I seem to remember that the process of opening accounts was extremely onerous--but maybe I'm mixing them up with the now defunct ZAG bank. Right now, their high interest savings rate is more enticing than most banks. When my promo runs out at Simplii in July, I may have to move money back to EQ.

I already initiated a transfer from Tangerine to EQ by end of the month when the 2.75% interest rate ends and gets replaced by 0.25% (So Pathetic!!).

When I opened my EQ Bank account a few years ago, it was very simple via 2 micro-deposits.

I believe a number of FIs use this methodology. Anyone who doesn't (or something even simpler) is in the Cretaceous age.

It is. The reference is to Tangerine.

EQ Bank is a viable option.
You need a bank account that has access to ABM/ATM for some cash withdrawals. Link/e-Transfer from EQ.
Many choices available for FREE ABM/ATM.

Thanks, SG and Vatox - and to all who complained about this issue.

We will be signing up for a joint account asap.

Thanks for the update. Glad to see they finally did it. I just went through the process to add my spouse and it was easy to do. Looking at my account now it now shows account co-holders, but her name is in a "pending" status.

She needs to reply to the "invitation to share joint account" email. By the way, what is the max anyone has transferred from an external account into EQ (in one transfer)

My wife's co-holder status is now active. She had an email from EQ inviting her to sign on. The process is not complete until the new co-holder signs on using her email address.

Everything looks good. I had a zero account balance waiting for this, so now I can move some cash over to EQ.

I don't know what the max is now, but I'm about to try a $100k Xfer from TD Bank.

Thanks Shawguy for letting us know! Feels like this has been a marathon that is finally over. sf-laugh

Adding my wife looks easy so far, after finding the well hidden sub menu to do so, after logging in. She is showing as Pending, as the process was previously described.

The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to
annoy people who are not in them.

If it is a PUSH from another bank, the max is just the max that EQ allows for an account. They used to have a max of $100K per account. I am not sure if that is still in effect, vs $500K or $1M at some banks.

If it is a pull, I think the max per transaction is $100K. I have moved up to $80K with no issues.

We have successfully opened the joint account. Both of us were already clients and were available to sign in, so it is not pending; up and running.

I just set up an EQ Bank joint account within a few minutes. It was about as straightforward as I remember it being with Tangerine. I documented the process with screenshots (after editing all the personal information in my browser) in case it's useful for someone who wants to see it before actually doing it.

I do not see in these screenshots where bank asks for co-signer Social Insurance Number.
As I plan to have co-signer pay taxes on interest, that is of interest to me.

When the co-holder does the signup process he/she enters his/her SIN at one stage of the process.
