I was also unable to login to EQ Bank. I checked Downdector.ca at this link and it looks like many people may be having issues:
https://downdetector.ca/status/eq-bank/
You can also report that you are having issues at this site, which helps EQ Bank and others know the current state of the website.

Anybody else annoyed by the continuous Online outages?

Happened to me , but I just signed in a second time (I never give up after 1 try) and it worked.....for a while. Had to sign in 3 or 4 times during the session. Hope it was just a glitch.

More problems. The hold is off my January 1st TFSA deposit and is available now, but I can’t buy a TFSA GIC.

“Technical difficulties. We don't like them either, but they happen.
Rest assured we've got our best teams working hard to find a fix. For updates, visit http://www.eqbankstatus.ca.”

When I try to log back in, I get more Status Updates...

“Update as of January 8, 2021 at 10:30pm EST. Our technical team continues to investigate the issues impacting Online & Mobile Banking. Your patience is greatly appreciated.”

And,

“January 8, 2021 at 9:15pm EST. We are currently experiencing intermittent technical issues impacting Online & Mobile Banking. Our team is actively investigating and working to resolve this as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

Most people interpret the “patience is a virtue” quote as the longer you wait, the luckier you'll get. But at this bank, waiting doesn't get you anything. It just gets you more waiting.

Online banking is fine now. I just purchased a TFSA 3 month GIC at 2.5%.

Their app is acting weird. Sometimes it'll randomly fail to sign in with my fingerprint and then that's fixed by closing the app and opening it again.

When I'm signed in on the app, it keeps saying "something went wrong" even though it's working fine, just a bit glitchy and slow at times, like I'll have to click things twice sometimes and it also randomly scrolls to the top while I'm scrolling down. The desktop site is somewhat better, even though not optimized for smartphones.
