Is your CIBC >1.70%? Also remember you can Interac out of EQ free, maybe max $3K/day, so that's $6K to send yourself.

Meanwhile remember to start the link between Tangerine and CIBC today, it might then be live on Mon.

Also curious why you had money at EQ at 2.0% if Tangerine was 2.5%. No obligation to say, of course.

Sorry if these are obvious things.

Thanks Ottawa....hey I lived in Ottawa in 1967.

No my CIBC is guaranteed 2.3% til mid October. Right now I'm getting the 2.3% + .1% for 2.4%.

CIBC is my link for Tangerine. If I'd have read your message before my transaction, I would have done the interact instead of the direct transfer. Thanks, I'll remember that in the future.

I already have more than the max in CIBC & Tangerine for CDIC insurance. The amount in EQ was not that much so I left it in the savings at 2% when my GIC expired with them last month.

I see that EQ also offers a 10year GIC @2.7% and a 7 yr at 2.35%.

I guess pretty soon if the mortgage rates go down much further, we'll be paying the banks to keep our money. Talk about forcing people into the stock market.
I was thinking of getting a bank stock or maybe Telus just for the dividends...but as a senior I have become so hesitant to take any risks.

Thanks, that makes sense. Sometimes we (well, I ๐Ÿ™‚ ) spend too much time chasing a few cents.

Interesting about the 10yr GIC at EQ, I believe CDIC used to be limited to 5yr but I see their website now just says "GICs". They had a bunch of changes recently.

On Jul 27, Invis.ca was showing 1.99% for a 3yr mortgage, slightly higher (e.g. 2.04%) for all other terms. In the Aug 3 email it's 1.99% for 1-4yr, 2.04% for 5yr, and only slightly higher for 7yr and 10yr. Not great if you don't have a mortgage. ๐Ÿ™

but my linked bank is CIBC with EQ so it would probably take til mid next week before I could get it to Tangerine.ย ย

Alexandra, don't forget that you can link up to 10 different bank accounts at EQ. So even if you have used up all 3 at Tangerine, you can still link EQ to Tangerine from EQ. Always good to have more than option. sf-wink
