I'm in British Columbia and I'm interested in opening an account with DUCA because it has a high interest rate (for now).

1. If you are outside of Ontario and were able to open up a Duca account, can you please reply to me?

2. Peter / moderator, why do I not see duca in the high interest savings chart? I checked both the Ontario chart and the ”other provinces” chart.

3. Peter / moderator, in the promos section of the website, I see that the 3.25% rate is a promotional rate that Duca's offering. and then in brackets it says Ontario only.

DUCA Credit Union (Ontario only): 3.25% on new deposits to an Earn More Park Account, no current end date

But you wrote in https://www.highinterestsavings.ca/forum/duca-credit-union/availability-outside-of-ontario/#p25956 That duca will serve the rest of Canada as well.
Why does the promo section say Ontario only if duca is available for the rest of Canada? I am confused

DUCA and Peter say that "DUCA won't solicit outside of Ontario but its bylaws says it will serve the rest of Canada."

Elsewhere, it's been said that DUCA may only operate or solicit in Ontario but may serve any Canadian resident. Well, their branches are all in Ontario and I believe their website is operated from Ontario.

Personally, I believe they should qualify to be on these comparison charts and to have their profile page.

BTW, if you go to https://join.duca.com, there is this set of requirements to join ...

So, go ahead and apply with all of your info, including your BC address and see what happens. I have not heard of anyone rejected getting jailed or shot ...

I tried last year and was able to proceed through the online signup process as a non-resident of Ontario. I called in a few days later for a status update and was eventually advised I was ineligible due to the Ontario requirement. To my relief, I was neither shot, or jailed for my misdemeanor.

I clarify: what exactly is this Ontario requirement that you speak of?
I'm not being a smart alec; the only Ontario requirement I'm aware of is that duka cannot solicit outside of Ontario.

You must be an Ontario resident to open the account, you don't have to be an Ontario resident to keep your account.

That is confirmed in their FAQ about accounts:

Can I open a DUCA account if I live outside Ontario?

Currently, only residents of Ontario can apply to be a DUCA Member.

Thank you this is important information that I will ping moderator Peter about. I don't think he knows this. Or at least his post about duca availability did not mention the stipulation

I posted this elsewhere...but there is no doubt. Here are the bylaws from 21 April, 2021....seems they had time for Zoom meetings during the pandemic 🙂

I think I saw your other comment, Lodown. Thank you for chiming in and responding to my inquiries.

As I said elsewhere, I don't understand why an institution will limit the number of people they will serve (i. e., Limit their revenue)

If you could collect your thoughts and just post a problem once, it would be appreciated. It would also conform to the guidelines under which this forum operates.

Please write your comments in the forum.
