I am planning to cancel my Amex Marriott card (which was the spg Amex card). Will I lose the Marriott points in the associated Marriott account?

When you have a credit card that is associated with an independent points program, the cancellation of the card does not affect the previously earned points. You would have to close the points account or let it expire due to lack of activity in order to forfeit the points. For example, both Aeroplan and Marriott require that you have activity in the account within a certain time frame in order for it to remain active. Some plans do not have expiry clauses.
