I have a CIBC Gold Visa that covers the first 31 days of out of province emergency medical insurance & rental car accident insurance. Because we are snowbirds the first 31 days of emergency medical insurance from the cc for both myself & my wife has saved us a fair bit of money. Once the 31 days is up we top up the rest of our stay with Medipac. The problem I have is once I turn 65 which is coming sooner than I like, we will lose the emergency medical coverage as per the terms & conditions of the card. Does anyone know of a cc with out of province emergency medical insurance that does not exclude those over 65? Thanks

I am in the same boat as you @dommm. Have the same card and am approaching 65. I know the Gold Visa card is no longer being offered to new customers. Most out of province coverage these days is only 10 days so we are lucky with this card. Age 65 seems to be a magic number for medical insurance.

I'm pretty sure that at least one of the cards offered by Meridian carries this insurance to age 75.
I think some other CUs have this also but not sure which ones.
You'd need to read the fine print, of course.

Great find Norman1......thanks.
I see the most days offered is 15 but if it also includes a spouse the $130 might makes sense.

The list is a good starting point. But, it is not exhaustive.

Loonie mentioned a credit card from Meridian CU that has travel emergency health insurance to age 75: The $99/year Meridian Visa Infinite Travel Rewards Card that's not in the list. Trips up to 15 days are covered for those age 65 to 75.
