Ha,ha, 5% cash back, maybe in your dreams!

As I suspected, Dear Djino, the 5% cash back turned to be the biggest lie, at least for some of us, who recently became MBNA Smart credit card users. Today I received a letter from some Michael Thompson, a marketing person at MBNA. It says that starting from December 1st 2012 the rewards cash back program at MBNA is changing ONLY for accounts ending at 34XX, which is my account too. The 'big news' is that they won't reward us with 5% cash back for the first 6 months, and 3% afterwards, but "the amount of cash back that we can earn will be limited to 1% of our first 1250$ in monthly net purchases, including gas and groceries."
Also it says that "however, we can earn an additional 1% cash back on the first 400$ of gas and groceries in each calendar month.

So, I don't know by what criteria the MBNA personnel choose which clients that will be rewarded with 5% cash back, and which won't, but this smells like a discrimination. MAYBE THE BBB can find out that answer. I just started using my card a month and a half ago.
Anyway, if someone at MBNA is pissed off by us, the neat and smart customers, who pay our credit cards in time and don't pay any interest to them, then they should learn that we STILL live in a capitalism, where everyone is fighting for his money. Money is at number one for them, but money is at number one for us too. And, I am really sorry, but I won't subscribe to any of you additional offers, that's my choice. As long as we play a game which is legally right, nobody can convince us to use something that's just a waste of money.
However, I don't care about their MBNA smart cash back any more; I don't care about their 50$ coming once a year (if they ever come -:)) ). I'll restart using my Scotia Bank Momantum Visa, at least they're fair and honest. That's all my friend Djino. My Best Regards to my amis de Quebec.

Capital one just amended their points when you sign up.. Was 5000 for me.. Jumped to 10,000 for new clients.. Not sure where it is now.. Seems like all credit card issuers and/or banks have their own rules.. Just find a no fee card you like and stick with it.. Seems to work best..

Well, Had my MBNA Smart cash for 3 years. Served me good the time I used it.

Was the best card out there before their change of policies effective December 1st.

However I have no fidelity when it regards to money.

Now can I ask you why you are with the Visa Scotia Momentum Visa and you don't go with the Infinite Version? http://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/0,,86,00.html
