I called Rogers and asked them about the new World Elite MasterCard. I had Fido MC only for 2-3 weeks and never used it when I called.

The agent asked me to confirm my income on the file (He wanted to know the monthly amount not annual > wanted me to divide the annual / 12 and give him the monthly number). Then he said, thank you, you will receive your new card mid June which has a new CC number.

And not begging Home Trust for their Visa card!

While I remain apprehensive about being the owner of the Home Trust Visa Card. For me it has no Forex fee, has some cash back, has no fees and can be used at Costco in the USA.

I may just cancel it as there is a lot of non confidence in this card...and I share that feeling too.

I know Home Trust has a high risk card for those that are rebuilding their credit rating. Maybe all cards are treated the same way by Home Trust.

NO soup for me.. There is a copy of secure correspondence with Rogers Bank requesting switch from Fido MC into World Elite MC:
"Thank you for contacting Rogers Bank. To qualify, you need to have a personal income of $80,000+/year or a household income of $150,000+/year or spend at least $2,100/month for at least 6 months. Based on a review of your account, you currently do not qualify for the World Elite MasterCard. If any of your information has changed, please don’t hesitate to contact our Customer Service at 1 855-775-2265"
They did not take under consideration that I use Tangerine most of the time and Rogers card is used only for the purchases not falling under 2% category.

Sorry to hear that. Yes you need to either have the minimum requested income or the monthly spending on your Fido / Rogers CC. They don't care about other Credit Cards spending I suppose.

I think this Rogers card and my MBNA will be my main CCs.

I know Home Trust has a high risk card for those that are rebuilding their credit rating. Maybe all cards are treated the same way by Home Trust.

The Home Trust Secured Visa is for that. On the other hand, Home Trust offers the Home Trust Equityline Visa for those who wish to have a spending limit up to $100,000, secured by the equity in their home.

I don't see anything seriously wrong with the Home Trust Preferred Visa. I can live with the ten transactions per day limit and the interim lack of PIN change.

If I wished to be able to cancel my card without cancelling the spouse's, then the spouse can apply for a Home Trust Preferred Visa card of his or her own.

I would miss the lack of a Visa PayWave transceiver in the card for contactless transactions. That's the price to be paid for saving a 2½% foreign exchange markup and the basic roadside assistance.
