Is it a bad idea to switch credit cards to take advantage of welcome bonuses? For example, BMO and IGA/Sobey came up with a new Mastercard that rewards holders 140 bonus airmiles for their first purchase. I have a BMO Mastercard 0.5% cash back that I seldom use and was thinking of switching to this card.

Personally, I'd limit my applications to one per year - and don't close the credit cards too often either. Otherwise, too many enquiries on your credit bureau affects your credit score.
