Does this mean anything?

It says they will be the main CC issuer but does that mean the other Aeroplan branded CCs get to stay?

Credit card companies that reach a new agreement with Air Canada will get to stay.

According to CBC.ca: Air Canada moves ahead with plan to take over Aeroplan for $450M, TD Bank, CIBC, and Visa have reached such agreements.

American Express Canada's current Aeroplan agreement ends in 2020. As of November last year, American Express Canada was still negotiating with Air Canada.

"Air Canada has entered into an agreement in principle with American Express Canada, which also issues Aeroplan co-branded products, to secure its continued participation in Air Canada's loyalty program after 2020."
