Coast Capital Savings Federal Credit Union has added a new geographic region (probably "Canada") on its website and launched some initial GIC promos (see: https://www.coastcapitalsavings.com/promotions/member-offers).

They have a 16 month convertible GIC for 2.70% for existing members of the credit union prior to Oct. 1st, 2018, with a one-time switch to a higher rate for an equal or greater term length. No bonus for switching this time. Also, I found this out, though not specifically stated, switch cannot be to a new convertible GIC - must be to a new non-redeemable GIC of equal or greater remaining term length.

Also for members prior to Oct. 1st, 2018, they have, so far, an 3-year rate escalator GIC paying 2%, 3%, and 4% in each of the respective years 1, 2, and 3, for an effective annual rate of 3%. That's comparable to the top tier in Canada.sf-cool

No promos for new members after Oct. 1st yet, but they do have an okay-ish 40-month GIC for 3% on new money to Coast.

Cheers,
Doug

Coast Capital is CDIC backed. Are their GIC rates competitive?

Following the "sweepstakes" promotional model, they are now offering a "chance" at winning an electric pickup to those booking investment advisory appointments.

I find the ephitet, "fat chance!" appropriate.
