Apparently, Alberta residents are eligible for a very slightly higher rate because of their affiliation with AMA.
The rate reduction has not yet been reflected on their website.

According to this 2012 thread entry, one has to be an AMA member residing in Alberta. Are you referring to the same source ? I am not able to find anything authentic on the official site. Local people knew ... local people know.

they do savings account thru mail will email application. no gic direct yet
