I use duckduckgo. But you can't really get away from google, most websites including this site use something of google such as stat trackers, so google knows what you're doing anyway

If you are using Chrome browser it has extension called Privacy Badger to stop trackers.
Check Brave browser, supposedly it should be 'cleaner' than Chrome. I did not install it yet but would like to see how compatible it is with sites I frequent...

Bing is Microsoft's competition to Google. It's also infested with spyware.

DuckDuckgo, like all search engines, uses results from other search engines. HotBot, I believe, was the first to do this. So one will often find Bing results (or Yahoo, which has some connection to Bing) in DuckDuckGo pages. But DuckduckGo does not include all the hooks and saved information that other search engines, including Bing, use to form profiles and target ads.

I use and recommend DuckDuckGo. It cal also re reched via aliases ddg.gg and duck.com.

The Wikipedia page has more details and history.

The idea that Microsoft and Google search engines are infested with spyware in the sense of secret, malicious “spyware” is completely baseless.

If you define “spyware” as “openly collecting telemetry/data to improve products, help authenticate/target ads then “yes”. It's a good thing in my book. Most of these you can opt out of.

DDG is more privacy focused but in reality it also allows data gathering.
