All my Bank accounts are setup for notifications of deposits and withdrawals. And it all works very well. I get notifications that say something like "A withdrawal of $xxxx.xx was made from your account ending in YYY".

But, why can't those notifications add one helpful detail .... Who? They know if it's Rogers or Bell or Enbridge or Hydro or whatever. It's all there when I log in to check.

Why not tell me in the notification email so I don't have to waste time logging in to verify every single one?

Good question ⬆️ ... but your FIs are more likely suited to answer it.

As for myself, it's not really an issue for me. I get such notifications almost a soon as I make the transactions and I'm usually still logged in, so I can confirm before logging out.

Automatic withdrawals & deposits are another matter. But admittedly I have very few of those, and the amounts are the same every month.

When you get a chance, please let us know what your FIs have to say about this.

Thanks & Cheers,

    Dean

Yes good question to ask them but none of them do email. Call and hold is their way to communicate....

True. Are you getting their underlying message, yet?

If you mean "we don't want to talk to you", I do get the message.... 🙂

I started moving auto debits to WS. Here is an example of their emails:

“ Your payment is complete
Amount: $5430.89
From: Chequing
To: MBNA”

You are right, it's helpful. I don’t recall setting this up.

Now that is good communication....

Agreed but I don't need to login and know for sure who it is today, or tomorrow. Once a week is good enough.

That said, I already know 99% of the time based on approximate amount and date of transaction which credit card payment, or utility bill it will be. With only 8-10 such debits per month, it is not hard to guess accurately.
