OfflineLightfoot was a strong, supportive voice through my youth and adulthood. I only saw him live once, a fantastic show at Montreal's Place Des Arts. I invited a young lady from my university to the show and she accepted, but as the show started she confessed to not liking him. (I guess she liked me, eh?) He lit into "The Canadian Railroad Trilogy," though, and she lit up with joy that lasted through the rest of the show, as she realized so many songs she loved were his.
The next day, I was at a friend's house when "If You Could Read My Mind" came on the railroad. I had such an emotional reaction, as if he was singing directly to me in the same voice as the previous night.

Er... ah... and then I immediately resolved to start saving for the future. Yeah, that's why I posted here. 🙂

Well said ⬆, RetirEd.
Gordon's songs & music were one of the things that helped me through some pretty tough times, when I was in my early 20's. Needless to say, I remain a
long-time fan.
One of my most favourite songs by Gordon, is one not played very much
these days. The song "Christian Island" is a about Gordon's sailboat,
called 'Silver Heels' . . .
.
.
For reference; Christian Island is in Georgian Bay, on Lake Huron.
Rest In Peace, Gordon ... now forever, on the 'Carefree Highway'.
