An excellent idea to do this in advance, if your plan is to contribute early in the year. Avoids wasting time then, as it becomes an online only transfer, ie; no need to be on hold on the phone forever. It also ensures its set up right, including the successor holder designation if desired.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as
sharp as it used to be.

I opened a TFSA without funding with EQ the other day. Probably will put 2021 contributions in there.

When I think about it.....there was no beneficiary designation lines to fill out. Why would that be?

Their FAQ say "To designate a beneficiary, you’ll need to sign in to your EQ Bank account and download the beneficiary designation form."

Alexandra, for TFSA, do not fill out "Beneficiary" form but do fill out "Successor Holder" form, if the funds are going to "spouse". Has to do with CRA and taxes on the funds.

I designate my daughter and granddaughter as the beneficiaries to most of everything.
