Hi,

If I open a US Savings Account with Tangerine can I go to a Scotia Bank teller and deposit US currency into my US Savings account? I haven't opened up a US Savings Account yet with Tangerine but I want to deposit paper US currency into my US Savings Account if I open one up.

Thanks,
TD

I would say no. The Tangerine bank accounts don't come with Scotiabank teller access.

The Tangerine accounts come with Scotiabank ATM access. Someone mentioned that it is only the Tangerine chequing account that is accessible by Scotiabank ATM and not their savings account.

You have to open a USD a/c at any bank that can deposit USD cash at branch. Then link that a/c to your Tangerine USD a/c. Transfer USD by pulling money from Tangerine.

Tangerine's US$ account currently earns 0.10%. So, just why do you wish to open such an account now? Their rate is abysmal.

Admittedly I do have a Tangerine US$ account, and at Hubert (also 0.10% just now), but also one at EQ which currently earns 3.0%. I switch money to whichever account pays the most at the time.

If you get one of Tang's 5% or 5.5% promo offers, it extends to USD accounts and makes it worthwhile.

Yes exactly, that's why I was asking this question.
