OfflineTangerine is commiting to use the cloud banking backend that Starling Bank in the UK uses, Engine by Starling. Maybe this is a response to the growth of more digital companies like WealthSimple, Neo, and EQ.
With Engine’s SaaS platform, Tangerine’s clients will experience best in class digital onboarding, chequing accounts, instant access savings, overdrafts, debit cards and smart money management features such as card controls and spending insights, delivered through an intuitive mobile app. Behind the scenes, Engine’s end-to-end platform will provide a simplified account view and consolidate the capabilities and support tools Tangerine needs to reduce operational cost and complexity for employees.

I see. Tangerine logins have been failing several times during the last few days without any clear communication presented on the web page. That is lousy IT leadership and poor executive direction.

I experienced the same thing for some time, a while ago. At one point, I couldn't take this any longer. I contacted their CS with my frustration, and the CSR changed my log in to a security question, and a password. No more security code on phone. Serenity now.

By all accounts here, their backend IT changes are not going over smoothly. Everyday there is inability to login throughout the day and inability to access the accounts. No detailed messages appear, no dated messages appear, no updates, nothing via email, no client service on the matter.
[we're sorry for the inconvenience] How sorry?
Atrocious, Tangerine, atrocious.

OfflineI haven't done any business with Tang and Simplii for quite a while now.
I seem to vaguely remember that a deposit at one of their ATM's can be made only to a non-interest paying account and any attempt to transfer the funds to an interest bearing account is denied for at least 5 days.
Bottom line: The deposit sits in a non-interest paying account for at least 5 days. No interest for you.

I have not experienced any such issues at TNG.

OfflinePerhaps the new backend will add functionality. Of interest would be online joint account creation. Currently joint accounts require the account creator (e.g. GIC) to call in to make the account joint and then the other account holder is required to speak to customer service to complete the request. So much simpler at Oaken ...

Hopefully this can decrease their e-transfer time. Every time I send an e-transfer with Tang, it is always at least a half hour until the recipient gets contacted.
This is not my experience. I have encountered some issues with Outlook/Hotmail, but it's been better. This is almost certainly related to your e-mail provider, not Tangerine. 😉

Reports on this and other sites suggest it is almost certainly Tangerine, and has nothing to do with the email provider.
