Conclusion definitely does not follow from the premise that TD would survive.

You hold shares in TD Bank. You are not TD Bank. Government and creditors could intervene to ensure TD Bank survives after existing shares are extinguished.

Algoma Steel has gone through restructuring multiple times. Company has survived. But, existing shares were cancelled and shareholders wiped out each time.
