Is the 1.5 year GIC at 6% a targeted offer or open to all? Tang does some weird stuff so always good to check.

https://www.tangerine.ca/en/rates/gic-rates

avail to all.

also for those who signed up for the 5.6% less than 30 days ago, you can cancel and get a new GIC at the new rate. Even tho you lose the accrued interest, net net you are still ahead at 6%.

Just added a 6% Tang GIC to my piggy bank. I could not resist the 6%.

I also couldn't resist the Tang 5.6% GIC account I opened about 15 days ago. I would not be dissatisfied with it at all , if it wasn't for Savemore mentioning Tang's 30 day cancelation policy , that I was not aware of.

I never broke a GIC contract before. So I kind of feel like a welcher. But nevertheless, I sheepishly called Tang's customer service anyway. Rep was pretty cool about it, said it's no problem. It took all of 5 minutes at most, not including the 10 minutes waiting for the rep. Those funds were immediately back in my savings account and available for me to proceed to open a new 6% GIC.

After losing the accrued interest of the 5.6, I'm still ahead by $180 for a 15min call. Thanks Savemore for the info, your cut is the mail.
