Received this 2.8% new money offer:

The special annual interest rate of 2.80% is a combination of the regular annual interest rate set by Simplii Financial earned on your Eligible HISA’s daily closing balance (“Regular Interest”), plus a promotional annual interest rate (“Promotional Interest”) that is earned on your Eligible HISA’s Additional Balance (defined below) from the date of enrolment until the end of the Offer Period. Any change to the Regular Interest will result in a corresponding change to the Promotional Interest so that the overall special annual interest rate will remain 2.80% from the date of enrolment until the end of the Offer Period.

Interest on each Eligible HISA is calculated as follows:

  • Regular Interest is calculated daily at the current rate applicable to the Eligible HISA balance on each day’s full closing balance;
  • Promotional Interest is calculated daily on each day's closing balance that exceeds the closing balance as at November 4, 2025 (the “Additional Balance”) beginning on the enrolment date until the end of the Offer Period;
  • The maximum Additional Balance that is eligible for Promotional Interest is $1,000,000 per Eligible HISA.

I accepted the offer even though I don't expect to use it. I'll do the same with Tangerine if they stop being stingy and at least make me an offer.

As far as I know, I didn't get any offers from Simplii and Tang and frankly I don't care. Actually, I think I recently got an offer from one of the "dynamic duos" but the offer was too low so I moved on.

I got this one too. It's only .05% more than what EQ is giving me (with DD) so it's a hard pass.

That was what Simplii offered me last month and I declined.

Now, the tile for this month's 2.8% offer hints at the lower rate offered previously:

Earn 2.80%(†) on eligible deposits to your High Interest Savings Account

We got you a better rate! Terms apply.

I got another email about this offer this morning, with the email titled:
Fine. We’ll give you the good rate: 2.80%.
Seems like Simplii has an attitude now sf-smile

Same as others here, after turning down their 2.3% offer previously I got told now I drive a hard bargain and that 2.8% is their final offer.

I get the impression Simplii is now run not by serious banking-types but by what we used to call "airheads". Wonder if that's CIBC (or all banking?) in general now.

Someone mentioned this yesterday so I went and looked and sure enough I am offered the 3.4% until end Jan as well. I wish they, Simplii would e-mail me when they are offering a special rate. Never get anything from them. Only reason I see this now is by going into my account. Have had 0 funds in there for probably close to a year. They were glad to see me back though!!

"Have had 0 funds"

Having 0 funds is the secret to getting an offer from Simplii.

Now I remember I got an offer from Simplii fairly recently but it was only 2.30%. The rate is so low that it is forgettable.

Just curious what people think the minimum offer rate needs to be before it is worth moving your money for a short term (3 month?) interest rate. Assuming you already have an account and don't need to open a new account just to get this rate.

Simplii 4.5% for new accounts for 5 months seems worth the effort if you don't already have a Simplii account.

It depends on the rate improvement, amount of money, and the cost of moving the money around.

If the $5,000 is already earning 2.3%, then a 2.35% offer is a 0.05% improvement. The 0.05% improvement for three months is about 63¢ more interest. Not a very strong case for the effort.

If it was $500,000 instead, then the $62.50 additional interest or $20.83/month more would be more worthwhile.
