Another forum user tipped me off that Saven Financial is now available outside of Ontario, except in Quebec. I sent a message to Saven Financial and they have confirmed that this happened "recently".

Their mobile app has come a long way but you can do virtually anything without customer assistance.
The nice part is there is no limit on the push and pulls to your other linked accounts and you don't have to provide a cheque to set up.
I was able to link a number of accounts in under 5 minutes including savings accounts at the other institutions. That's handy so you don't lose interest letting money sit in a chequing account while waiting for a push or pull.

Saven is certainly not 'Top Tier" when it comes to its app. Still needs work as has been identified in earlier posts.

Doubtful. They likely have a branch-specific exemption in their Bond of Association allowing for members of the Saven Financial branch to reside outside of Ontario whereas members of FirstOntario branches require Ontario residency.

I do all my online banking on a well secured Desktop, 'Only'.

One needs to use the mobile/app for the MFA part - so the app function is important.
One cannot do Saven transactions only using the desktop - because of the mandatory validation using the mobile and app. I have spoken to a Saven agent about this and they did confirm that one cannot use only the desktop so not sure how you deal with the validation part without using your mobile/app. I will say that the app has improved since the origin of Saven but definitely not up to expected 2026 standard.
Also, I agree the lack of joint accounts (as stated in Post 8) is not "top tier".
