Just curious. How are the former HSBC clients enjoying life now as an RBC client?

It's OK. I moved out of RBC DI but still use chequing and business accounts.

Moved my direct debits out to WS. RBC was supposed to end their “free VIP account to former HSBC clients” deal. As soon as we moved debits out, RBC notified us that the deal is being extended to perpetuity.

So, we are staying for now, at least until WS starts offering business chequing accounts.

We still have HSBC accounts in Britain, which is good.

Not happy with RBC compared to HSBC. RBC saves their best savings rate for new clients. I told them I'm a new RBC client (former HSBC client) but they still said NO.

Plus, RBC has a monthly fee (waived for the first year only).

They waved it permanently now. At least for us, but I assume its for everyone. I wouldn’t use RBC for HISA, but generally I found that their service is aligned with what it says on the tin. Not as good as WS but better than TD.

The main advantage of having an HSBC account for us was that they let you open a British account and we still have that. HSBC hisa promos and mortgages were good too, so not having them is a loss for Canadian consumers.

Did you have to ask for the fees to be reversed or did RBC do it automatically? RBC put me in the Private Client category. Sound good, eh? No, it's just excuse for RBC to charge a "private client" fee.

Sorry, can't resist: "Waived," not "waved."
