Oh, how delightful. Logged in to confirm what I had read elsewhere. No advance notice, just a 0.5% reduction, ouch!

That's a pretty steep decline since it came out with a 4.25% rate in fall of 2024. Although that closes the gap with the Bank of Canada's key interest rate (which is now 2.25% -- PC Financial's rate was meaningfully above the Bank of Canada rate for most of 2025: https://www.highinterestsavings.ca/savings-account-interest-rate-graph/?institution_ids%5B%5D=pc-financial&institution_ids%5B%5D=bank-of-canada&institution_ids%5B%5D=0&institution_ids%5B%5D=0&institution_ids%5B%5D=0

Lowering rates 1/2% without any notice/notification would be considered a "catch" in my mind.
Another FI joins the mediocrity ranks 🙁

I've considered joining for their $200 bonus, but I would have to switch my DD away from EQ, which is earning more than $200 bonus for me every month.

Edited to add:

Looks like they are taking a page out of EQ's playbook, and will boost the rate to 2.9% if you switch and keep DD with them. Might give them another look to snatch the $200 welcome bonus...

And with the bonus interest rate offer, the $200 welcome offer is toast.
Sorry PC, not worth switching everything for 0.15%.

.
No real need to get our Nickers-In-A-Knot . . .

Welcome to the normal 'Ebb & Flow' of SA interest rates. sf-smile

And yet another reason to have dealings with more than one FI.
