@Rail Baron (and others that tried TD) what payee name did you use to set up bill payment from TD to PC Money?
When I select "PC FINANCIAL MASTERCARD" as a payee, enter my 16-digit PC Money card number, I get this response: "There seems to be an issue with your account number entry".
I think, TD is intentionally blocking PC Money card numbers.I would like to hear from other people experiences making bill payments from TD to PC Money.
Sorry it's been a while since I checked this thread.
My TD bill payment is set to "PC Financial Mastercard" and the bill payment works like a charm.
I tried the same linkage with Tangerine, but it was blocked. So it seems that different banks have different permissions on which types of bills they will allow for payment in this fashion. It might even be that TD bank has different permissions for different types of accounts. Mine is an "All Inclusive" account with TD, fwiw.

OfflineSimplii Financial has the following for the two possible bill payees:
PC Financial - PC Money Account
This account consists of a Card Number that is 16 numbers. Only the prefix " 533866" followed by 10 digits may be registered. Enter this number without any spaces.Mastercard, President's Choice Financial
This account consists of an Account Number that is 16 numbers. Only the prefix "516179, 518116, 518127, 522879 or 533866" followed by 10 digits may be registered. Enter this number without any spaces.
The paying bank can tell, by the BIN prefix of the card, that it isn't really a Mastercard credit card.
A utility may not care who is paying a bill. But, some billers, like investment dealers, do care, likely because of anti-money laundering requirements. A bill pay to the PC Money card could fail because it looks like someone else is trying to fund a PC Money account through the card.

I got around the 5 day hold by using the bill payment feature to move money into my PC Money account. My traditional bank (TD) treats PC Money as a credit card for bill payment purposes, and when the funds arrive into PC Money account, I can instantly transfer them into the savings segment.Similarly, PC Financial treats my Q Trade cash account as an eligible bill payee, so I can move money out of PC much more easily and fluidly than using their bank transfer mechanism. I even get 1,000 Optimum points for one bill payment from PC Financial per month (a minimum of $50).
So far, this scheme is working well for me.
Yes, moving money in through bill payment can work.
And if a person is already in the PC financial economy, you can pay the PC Financial MC and others, and get the 1000 points for each bill payment. If you already use that for groceries, better than nothing.

OfflineFound one more method to transfer funds directly to your PC Financial account with minimal waiting. Create an Interac e-transfer presence in your PC Financial account. Then go into "Transactions" and then the PC Financial Interac e-transfer and request funds from your bank. Use the e-transfer notification message to open your bank account and agree to the funds transfer request.

What was the maximum amount you were able to request?

OfflineInterac e-Transfer Request Money is a convenience. It saves the person receiving the request from having to fill in contact information (e-mail address or SMS phone number) and the amount.
Person receiving the request is still doing an Interac e-Transfer and is subject to the same limit as an Interac e-Transfer they start on their own.

Bill payment bonus works, pay a bill over $50 get that 1000 points. Of course it all benefits loblaws, but if you are using it anyway.
This is in fact one of the best sideline accounts.
The 1000 points arrive with a bill payment of exactly $50. Since I am paying myself through this function (from Rogers Bank to my Q Trade cash account), I can set the amount to exactly $50 and it works for points.
Yes, the points mean buying groceries through Loblaws, but my No Frills has some of the better prices on groceries in downtown Vancouver.
I agree that this account is an appealing sideline account.

Good idea, a person can set-up a few automatic monthly bill payments of $50, including transfers, and you get some points, which can be used at No Frills. Which of course is the intent of loblaws, but if you use it anyway, might as well.

OfflineIt's not just PC Financial that does this. The Canadian banking system is just not fit-for-purpose. It's non-unified & is decades behind the UK & other European countries. Transfers in the UK are INSTANTANEOUS ! You can transfer out from one account & it is deposited in the destination account almost immediately. None of this messing around ! You just specify the bank sort code & account number & you're in business ! No long delays like in Canadia !

KRB666, Thank you for putting this into a global perspective. It highlights how embarrassing it is for a country with as much wealth as Canada, not to do a better job. Just license the software from the EU or UK folks and make it happen. Write your Member of Parliament as to how mortified you are about this situation.

OfflineInstantaneous transfers of large sums of money, could mean some people will be instantaneously and permanently robbed of their life savings.
The holds are deliberately put there for that reason, to guard against criminals.
Once accounts are connected, most smaller transfer and pushes go through quickly.
But banks have to account for bad cheques, criminals, scams, and even with the current hold times many people get robbed.
