Although I have GIC with Oaken I had a real struggle trying to link to Motive. Oaken wanted:
"As per our guidelines, we require the following documents to review and process,- An actual Void cheque or PAD Form (stamped and signed by an authorized signatory at the bank)
- Unaltered bank statement from the last 30 days showing full name of all account holders and account number
- Valid photo ID (eg, driver’s license)"Needless to say I did not bother.
I just went through the Same thing ⬆️ at Oaken, when I tried to link my TD SA to my Oaken SAs❗
The Oaken Operations Dept. told me that because the account holder names didn't Perfectly match (my name at TD included my middle initial, and my name at Oaken shows no middle initial), I had to jump through All the hoops Bob mentioned above, Plus; "A Signed letter of direction with a handwritten signature"). Other than the middle initial at TD, the two names were a Perfect match.
When I asked them to apply 'A Little Discretion' (given the very minor difference in the names), they responded back like the Gestapo, and said I had to comply with All the items on their list, within the next four days.
In the end ... I told them to Stick It‼️
Has anyone else recently had these linking problems at Oaken ?

OfflineIt is not a good idea to use variations of one's legal name like that on bank accounts or property. That's going to cause issues with power of attorneys and with executors.
Land title office will require a supporting affidavit from the surviving joint owner before it will delete the deceased owner's name from the title. It will not accept the affidavit from the survivor's power of attorney when the survivor's name in the POA document doesn't match the survivor's name on the land title records.
Telcos may not care about the name on the bank account the bill payment is sent from. But, some brokerages and foreign exchanges now require that bill payments must be from one's own bank account and not the bank account of a third party.

Yes, I was a 'little' more diplomatic than that ⬆️, but I think they Got My Drift.

P.S.
After Oaken rejected my Link request (see Post #1 for details),
I went to my EQ Bank account and made the same Link request.
In spite of the account names also not matching perfectly (only
one included my middle initial), my request for a Link was
Immediately accepted, and I've already transferred money
between the two linked accounts.
Go Figure❗

'Food For Thought' ⬆️ ... for us All❗
I bet Alexandre and I aren't the only guilty ones here.
That subject is well-worth its own thread.
Thanks Norman,
