With almost certain US and Cdn. rate announcements in a week (especially after adding on today's US PPI announcement, I hope Oaken has responded and is done with/will stick to these rates for awhile. Also, IF they change HISA, I hope its only 10 bp.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as
sharp as it used to be.

Yup ... I got that ⬆️ email this morning.

No surprises there. You can read into it what you want ... but for the most part, it's all about the normal Ebb & Flow of GIC rates.

Stay tuned for more changes, 'As The Stomach Turns'. sf-wink

I agree. Home Trust is a lender, not a hedge fund.

If the rate on their one-year GIC's is bringing in money faster than they can lend it out through their one-year loans, then they will trim the rates on their one-year GIC's.

I am speculating Oaken and EQ Bank will be very close to each other in their offerings more often than not, one year loan demand excepted (as posted by Norman1). I believe they each are their own closest competitors in the marketplace.

Whew! I just got off the phone with Oaken, signing up for a new 3.7% 2-year. My previous GIC comes due tomorrow.

I didn't know that you could get a better rate by calling in. Do you remember if they offered a better rate for a 1 year GIC?

Oaken's 1 year non registered GIC is 3.4%. It's listed as 3.5% on this website.

gicbits: No, that was my last chance to nail down the 3.7% 2-year. That was the posted rate as of September 10th.
