OfflineI was in the Toronto office the other day and noticed that they are putting in a small storefront in the the lower level of the building they are currently in. Still under construction.
The building, by the way, is directly accessible from the St. Andrew's subway station. You don't have to go outdoors. Similarly the new storefront is indoors.
I had great service from a woman whose name, I think, was Natalie. All the staff were very congenial.

OfflineI think they are trying to make things easier for clients and new clients that don't want to go to the 25th floor and do business with them.
It will probably help alot of people and keep more clients and attractive new ones as long as they stay relatively competitive.
More options is always a good thing.

Nothing new here, thanks though, Loonie. They've always been a "virtual" branch/division of Home Trust Company, which has some offices/branches in major metropolitan centres. I suspect they are just adding Oaken Financial customer-facing signage and branding to those offices. I don't expect a major rollout cross-country (though it'd be nice!).
I think we're all trying to 'latch on' to any wee bit of news in the banking realm given the 'dearth' of news and we need to be careful not to be 'first to post' when there's very little news. Just a thought.
Interestingly though, they have applied to the Minister of Finance for a Schedule I chartered bank license as 'Home Trust Bank' (in English) done as a subsidiary of Home Trust Company (the existing federal trust company) and not simply re-incorporating under the Bank Act from the Trust and Loan Companies Act (Canada Gazette). Well, that's enough 'geeky bank news'.
Cheers,
Doug
