Oaken is not at risk here because they are in total control. If the funds currently on hold turns out to be bogus, Oaken will simply cancel the GIC.

Yes ... That ⬆️ was established here, quite sometime ago.

The real story here is that Oaken will let us invest in one of their GiCs, with funds that are 'Still On-Hold'. Almost all other FIs won't let us do that.
