OfflineThis may just be my next step forward ... the National Bank World Elite Mastercard.
I want the card for their out-of-province emergency medical coverage, specifically age from 65 to 75. The $150 annual fee is a kicker, & I'm not anybody on that healthcare professionals list. However, if I spend $400 on groceries monthly to earn 24,000 points, it may just be enough to offset the cost.
Alternatively, I could redeem the 24,000 points for $200 TFSA contribution value to one the NBC TFSA product. Too bad, I closed my Motive TFSA before migration ... need to open one again.

The card will refund $150 in travel expenses annually, it's sort of a wash. If one doesn't travel, what's the point in getting the card.

As a snowbird I was very interested when you mentioned the emergency medical coverage so I found their terms & conditions & was really happy to read of the 60 day coverage. The card we have presently has 25 days coverage which saves us a nice chunk of change. We use the 25 days to top up our other coverage. Unfortunately a little further down in the terms & conditions it says if your trip is longer then 60 days you do not get any coverage. .

Most cards have the same restriction, you don't get any coverage if a trip extends beyond the stated duration. In other words, it cannot be combined with other types of coverage to extend a trip. It's measured from date of departure to date of return.

Luckily for me I can use the 25 days as a top-up with no such restrictions.

Emergency medical coverage from National Bank World Elite:
Up to $5,000,000 per person
Covers any trip up to (depending
on age):
> Age 54 and under: 60 days
> Age 55 to 64: 31 days
> Age 65 to 75: 15 days
> 76 and over: no coverage
If the length of the trip exceeds
the maximum number of days, no
coverage is offered for that trip.
