In the Migration Guide for Motive Financial, on page 26, under section 3.10, it says that the ability to transfer funds to an account at another financial institution will not be available after migration (from National Bank).

However, I just wanted to point out that it appears one can add an external account by going to the Preferences tab under My Profile, then expanding "Manage my overview and account preferences" by hitting the + button on the right and then choosing "Manage my external accounts" This opens a new window "Manage my institutions" where can presumably choose an external Financial institution and account to link. However to proceed, you must log into that financial institution with your credentials (login name + password) - which I believe is used by a third party (I am guessing Flinks) to allow access to the external account specifically for them to carry out the transfers. I know some people are leary of using Flinks or other 3rd party service providers for transfers to external accounts. I did not personally add any links to an external account using this so I am not 100% sure if it is Flinks. Below are a couple of screenshots:

ManageMyExternalAccounts_Screenshot.jpgManageMyInstitutions_Screenshot.jpg

Has anyone tried linking an external account using this option from National Bank? Is it Flinks? Any problems or issues with linking accounts this way? Thanks!

That's for connecting external accounts to National Bank online banking to display their balances and transactions there along with those from one's National Bank accounts. Transactions are not permitted:

Can I make online transactions from my external accounts?

View your external account balance and transaction history from your online bank.

You’ll not be able to make transactions with your external accounts, but you can categorize your transactions to get a global view of your finances.

I don't believe you can link an external account with what you're describing. What you're seeing is the system that gives you an overview of your accounts at other financial institutions. Tangerine has something similar. The idea is too see a summary of all your accounts at the linked banks.

Hi again
In case anyone missed this other thread (https://www.highinterestsavings.ca/forum/national-bank/pad-migration-from-motive/) everhopeful provided a helpful answer indicating that on page 26 of the Motive Migration guide (see section 3.5), that PAD agreements and DD will be honoured for 12 months post-migration. I had missed this when I had scanned the Migration guide the first time so was very glad to see this. I presume this means that one can still transfer funds out of your migrated Motive accounts (now CDN$ Progress Accounts) if you initiate a transfer (pull) from the external FI that has the pre-existing PAD agreement?

I have a PAD or EFT agreement at Simplii that allowed me to initiate transfers from Simplii to push and pull funds from my Motive chequing account (listed as a CWB account at Simplii). This was actually set-up before CDF was rebranded to Motive and transfers initiated from Simplii still worked fine all through the years up to the migration date. I did not use it a lot because I don't like the way Simplii forces you to post-date the transfer by a day at which point the pending transfer disappears - usually for another day before it re-appears in your transaction list yet another day later when the transfer actually occurs (the temporary transaction disappearance always unnerves me a bit, especially for larger amounts). Instead, I usually initiated transfers from the Motive side where I had another PAD agreement (for a Simplii account) - but that is no longer available.

Anyways, I am testing to see if the PAD at Simplii for my Motive (CWB) account still works - just logged into Simplii today and attempted to transfer (pull) $2.00 from that Motive (CWB) chequing account. If things go as usual, it will take about 2 business days before I find out if the $2 was successfully transferred OUT of the corresponding $CDN Progress Account at National Bank and into my account at Simplii.

Has anyone else initiated a transfer (either a push or pull) from an external FI having a pre-existing PAD for a migrated Motive account (now a CDN$ Progress Account). Did the funds transfer successfully?
Thanks!

Thanks Norman1 and JohnnyCash. That clarifies things a lot!
Much appreciated!

Has anyone applied for their World Elite Mastercard that has annual fee of $150? Like most World Elite cards, this one has impressive travel insurance benefits.

Do we need to pay the $150 upfront and get reimbursed later or it is automatically waived at time of application?

The waiver is an email with the Subject "Your migration is now complete". I had received this email after logging in and setting up access (and the mobile app). I had just skimmed through the email, missing the bit about the permanent fee waiver, and only went back to look when others here started posting about it.

Thanks! Same thing happened to me. Who would expect to see such an important piece of information with a title like that? Next time I call them, I'll confirm with the CSR.

I would check with a NBC (...not Nuclear, Biological, Chemical hazard... :)) CSR before getting that card, hoping the fee will be waived each and every year due to your 'free' Total Package.

"The Total" package cashback on the MasterCard annual fee looks one time and not every year:

Other advantages
› Cashback on the annual fees for a National Bank Mastercard credit card, at enrollment2 Up to $150.00

2 The cashback on the annual fees for a National Bank Mastercard credit card can only be applied one time, at enrollment.

They could have avoid confusion by saying "First year annual fee waived", like what most other banks put on their website, instead of "Up to $150 cashback, Get cashback after enrolling in an eligible credit card" on their The Total information webpage.

The only bank that offers a free World Elite Mastercard through a chequing account's credit card rebate is Bank of Montreal.

New holders of an eligible National Bank Mastercard credit card and a chequing account with The Total® package will receive a discount of up to $150. Eligible credit cards and respective discounts are: Echo® Cashback, Syncro, Platinum, World and World Elite®. The discount only applies once after enrollment. The bank account must be opened before the credit card account to qualify for the discount offer. The amount of the discount will be applied as a credit to the credit card account statement within a maximum of 90 days after activation of the card. To qualify for the discount, the credit card account must be in good standing and the bank account must not be overdrawn. The main cardholder and co-holder of an account with The Total package may be entitled to a discount provided they each sign up for an eligible Mastercard primary card. No discount will be given to holders of an additional Mastercard card. Accounts opened with the The Total package before January 22, 2018, are not eligible for this discount. For the conditions relating to National Bank Mastercard credit cards, visit our website.

You get an annual $150 rebate on travel expenses each year. In a sense it's like getting the annual fee rebated.

The fine print for the $150 travel expenses rebate on eligible expenses:

Eligible expenses include:
• airport parking fees
• baggage fees
• seat selection fees
• access to airport lounges worldwide
• airline ticket upgrades

Yes, but that is not a benefit due to having the "total package". Anyone can apply and get that benefit if they spend $150 each year on:
• airport parking fees
• baggage fees
• seat selection fees
• access to airport lounges worldwide
• airline ticket upgrades (whatever that is?)

Fair enough, the end result was my point. Ticket upgrades commonly occur when a economy class booking gets changed to a business class booking.

Transit information from google:

0555-1 555 Chabanel St. West, Montreal, Quebec (closed branch)
0556-1 7337 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary AB T2H 0P1

Are these addresses valid? They are from Google. Sometimes certain transaction will ask for transit address.

The Calgary location in your example is actually 05591.

Interesting, can't trust Google. Now it's telling me transit 0555-1 is in Vancouver and not the earlier Quebec. The floatfinancial has Institution Number as 005 while Google came up with 006. I guess will wait for the cheque book to arrive and see what address is printed on the cheque.
