I got the "You're a bit too early" message when I tried to signup. I guess Ontario must wait until the 24th.

For those of you who successfully signed in today to your newly transferred NBC account, please advise what the interest rate shows as for the new NBC Savings? I believe it was supposed to be around 2%. I have not decided as yet whether it is worth it to do the validations/do the migration/set up of the new NBC account(s) if the interest rate is much less than the 2% originally stated.
It doesn't show, the good news is you can call them on weekends:

As per your post with the "good news" I just called in - they will not give any responses until my Bank Card is activated - however, I will not be able to activate the card until tomorrow Monday. So we are off to a really great start, aren't we? Probably will not proceed with this effort. No big attraction to NBC.

Q: Does everyone need an activated Bank Card ?When I was with Motive, I didn't even Have a Bank Card !
Thanks,
Dean
Hi Dean,
I went on-line and asked if it was mandatory to have a debit card if you are a client of National Bank of Canada.
It says no you do not need a debit card. You can do on-line banking without one. I guess one can have a chequing account with them to move funds or I see you can link most banks as well.

OfflineWell, I can go you folks one better:
I have been a National Bank customer for several years
I got a debit card when I opened the account, but I never had "activated" it
(Didn't need to, for my purposes, I just used it as my id to login or call in)
I also had an account at Motive
It was my intention to get that account closed, and consign it to the dust heaps of history, figuring it could only lead to trouble if it got transferred
Well, I cleared the money out of the Motive account, but clearly I didn't succeed in getting it closed.
They obviously shipped the information over to National
So now, as of yesterday, I am unable to log into either my National Bank account, or my NBDB brokerage account!
I just called in, and I was told my problem is because I never activated my debit card!
(The one I have had for over 4 years)
I'm told I only have to activate that card, and all will be well
I'll try that at the branch tomorrow morning-- but this has all the earmarks of catch 22

OfflineI tried signing in to the banking with my existing NBDB credentials, and it didn't work.

Thank you for the link! I never got an online banking enrolment letter. I went to this link and was able to put in my new debit card to validate. It then told me I had an existing sign in and to use the same credentials as my NBDB login.
Sure can tell we are part of a Big 6 bank now
. Just reinforces my plan to close out once my last GIC matures. Unfortunately that will be a few years down the line.
At least all the balances moved over correctly.

OfflineMy Motive cash account (which was paying a decent interest rate IIRC) has been converted to a "Progress Account in CDN$" which appears to pay next to no interest (0.1% near as I can tell). On the National website when I click on "Move Money" I get a popup saying "You must have a bank account to access this feature.", and it prompts me to open a chequing account with a $4 monthly fee. Since I also have automatically migrated Motive GICs with various maturity dates am I being forced to sign up for and keep a paid National chequing account to ever get my money out?

This is what you should have seen if you used the link in post #322. Enter the new NB debit card to start the process.
Not what I did. go to signup.motive.nbc.ca . First page enter your log in used at Motive, second box put the secret code they snail mailed you. Set up email & password...you're in. Much easier.
