The qualifying period is already over for this one ... just adding for the record ... currently there is another one which I will start in a new topic

New or existing TDDI clients use promo code GETSTARTED or COMMENCER to enroll for their Easy Trade account(s) ... starting November 1, 2024

1. Register by March 31, 2025

In essence, it is $500 for $50 in 2 months

It might even be possible to use TD Easy Trade for free Norberts Gambit, buying Fortis ( fts.tsx to fts.nasdaq ) and journaling using securities transfer function.

I haven't tried it but someone described it on this old Reddit post

https://old.reddit.com/r/CanadianInvestor/comments/11koqgm/moving_usd_from_usa_to_canada_and_doing_norberts/

Any one of a few dozen of inter-listed stocks can be used for NG (either way CAD to USD or USD to CAD). The key is to use a stock you do not already own. Otherwise you trigger cap gains issues due to a residual holding of that particular security.

TD Easy Trade is not good, you can not park your cash in TDB8150 or something like this.
You must have cash balance before you buy a stock. Buying power=Cash balance.

I do not have a TD Easy Trade account and I do not know in detail.

TD Easy Trade is not a full brokerage account. We looked into it before.

No mutual funds or anything packaged up like a mutual fund. No ETF's other than the TD ones.

Access is through a mobile app only.

You can park your cash in TCSH (TD Cash Management ETF).

Off topic but, do you know when this is updated - "Current Yield To Maturity 2.96"?
The web site says "updated monthly" but failed to state when exactly. It probably is the end of the month but not sure it is March or April.

I can't speak to yield, but it pays dividends monthly after the end of the month. The last 4 dividends were 0.17, 0.15, 0.13 and 0.15. It trades in a saw-tooth, dropping on ex-dividend and rising slowly as the next ex-dividend approaches. This year it has traded between 50.00 and 50.19.
The dividends are declared here:

People who participated in TD’s last year’s 2% promo should check their accounts.
