Qtrade circulated an announcement that they are dropping most commissions for online trading of Canadian and US stocks on their platform. The quarterly administration fee for small accounts in also disappearing.

It's a welcome alignment with some other online trading platforms.

Aviso Wealth (Qtrade) had to step up their game since Wealthsimple AUM more than doubled in the past year from $50B to $100B blowing right by Questrade and into the rear view mirror of Aviso at $150B. WS success is (or will) causing others to sharpen their pencils too.

Not all free. They are keeping the $15 US quarterly fee for $USD registered accounts.

You're right. But USD trading accounts that are not registered do not incur fees.
