I just got an email about a new issue:

"Partners Value Split Corp. 5.40% Cumulative Class AA Preferred Shares, Series 16 USD"

It looks to me like a good investment but I don't totally understand it. I understand split shares and I own a few.
On the web site it lists all the preferred shares and dividend information but no information about the capital shares.
Also all the previous series are in Canadian dollars; it says "Presented in Canadian Dollars". This new series is in US dollars.
Does anyone here own any of the previous series and/or understands them?

The capital shares of Partners Value Split Corporation are not available directly to public. All those shares are held by through publicly traded Partners Value Investments LP in a subsidiary Partners Value Investments Inc.

Be careful unless you know what the issue is about. In general, offers out of the blue not coming from outfits you already deal with are a red flag.

Does TDDI do any due diligence?

TD Direct Investing doesn't need to. They can rely on the diligence done by the syndicate underwriting the bought deal. The syndicate is led by Scotiabank, BMO Capital Markets, CIBC Capital Markets, RBC Capital Markets, and TD Securities Inc.

I received e-mails from BMO InvestorLine and Scotia iTRADE about the offering.
